Films: Tales from the Darkside (1990)

Summary: Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But...there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit...a Darkside.

History: These tales are a collection of distraction stories from a boy trying not to end up as a pastry for a modern day witch. They include a story of a guy who summons a mummy to exact revenge on some guys who screwed him out of a scholarship, a black cat out to kill people as vengeance for the thousands of cats killed by a man's pharmaceutical company, and a Gargoyle who gives a man a loving wife and kids in exchange for him not telling anyone of its presence.

Notable Kills: The mummy spoons out a guy's brains pharaoh-style, and stuffs flowers in another victim's back wounds. For the Cat...see below.

Final Fate: The mummy is chopped to pieces and burned before it can wreck any more havoc (though its victims are reanimated instead), the cat kills its hunter by jumping down his throat, and the Gargoyle is revealed to be the wife after he breaks his promise, killing him and taking her Gargoyle children to sit as statues above him in remorse. As for that witch, she got tricked into stabbing herself and getting put in her own oven.

Powers/Abilities: All seem to have some degree of immortality. The Gargoyle can shapeshift.

Weakness: The mummy can be ripped apart rather easily.

Scariness Factor: 4-The mummy is a violent hitman for a disgraced youth, the cat won't settle for a simple murder, and the Gargoyle is a hideous monster capable of mutilating you. Needless to say, these are rather messed up beings.

Trivia: -This film acts as a sort of series finale to the series it is from, though some actually think that this was meant to be the official "Creepshow 3".

-The Gargoyle story takes inspiration from that of Yuki-onna, a spiritual Yokai often associated with the cold and snow. For the longest time she was associated with evil and freezing her victims alive, until after the 18th century, when her sympathetic nature as a ghost was explored.
